Job Description



The Digital Marketing Specialist is responsible for developing and executing digital marketing strategies to effectively promote the initiatives, programs, and missions of AFWERX and Director priorities. This position requires a deep understanding of digital marketing techniques, including but not limited to social media, email and content marketing, and search engine optimization (SEO). The Digital Marketing Specialist will work closely with personnel from across AFWERX and the Strategic Communication team to ensure alignment with organizational goals and messaging.

Responsibilities shall include:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive digital marketing strategies to promote the AFWERX mission, initiatives and programs.
  • Manage the creation and distribution of engaging content across various digital platforms, including social media channels, websites and email campaigns.
  • Monitor and analyze digital marketing performance metrics, such as website traffic, social media engagement, and conversion rates, to optimize campaigns and drive results. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including public affairs, to ensure consistency and alignment of messaging across all digital channels.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in digital marketing and recommend innovative strategies to reach target audiences effectively.
  • Provide regular reports and presentations as requested on the effectiveness of digital marketing efforts and key performance indicators.
  • Ensure consistency of the AFWERX brand, message and communication of all products. 
  • Participate in discussions and meetings to gather critical information that is key to product development and provide tactical and strategic knowledge in the area of expertise to better inform team members and further the AFWERX goals and priorities.
  • Understand target audiences and tailor products to resonate with audiences to demonstrate the AFWERX value.

Qualifications

  • DoW Secret clearance or higher is required.
  • Degree or certificate in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in digital marketing, with at least 3+ years of experience, preferably within a military or government context.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing principles, strategies, and tactics, with a focus on social media, content marketing, and SEO principles to enhance online visibility. 
  • Ability to strategize, execute and analyze social media campaigns across different platforms.
  • Skill in utilizing analytics tools to track and interpret data, measuring the success of campaigns and making data-driven recommendations.
  • Create and execute email campaigns to reach and nurture target audiences.
  • Basic knowledge of web development and user experience to collaborate effectively with web development teams.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and adapting strategies and products accordingly. 
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools and software, such as Google Analytics, Hootsuite, and Adobe Creative Suite. 
  • Ability to think critically and make decisions, pays attention to detail, and has a self-starter mentality.
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools to include Google Workspace. 
  • Flexibility to work in fast-paced environments and adapt to changing priorities, and have strong time management skills working under tight deadlines. 
  • Ability to work autonomously in a highly dispersed organization.
