Position Purpose

To Advance the mission and vision of Hill Country Christian School by providing visionary leadership to the Fine Arts Program ensuring every student has the opportunity to grow in their appreciation and practice of The Arts.

OVERVIEW

The Fine Arts Director provides strategic leadership, vision, and coordination for Hill Country Christian School of Austin’s K-12 Fine Arts programs, including Band, Choir, Theatre, Visual Art, Music, Worship Arts, and related initiatives. This role exists to cultivate an environment where students discover, develop, and express their God-given gifts through high-quality artistic instruction and meaningful creative experiences. Working closely with teachers, students, families, and community partners, the Director builds and strengthens a unified, Christ-centered Fine Arts program that promotes enthusiasm, alignment, artistic excellence, and a biblical worldview.

Qualifications

  • Must be a Christ-follower who upholds, in word and deed, the Hill Country Christian School of Austin’s Core Values and Statement of Faith.
  • Must faithfully attend a church whose fundamental beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith of this school.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Music Education, Music Performance, Theater, Visual Arts, or related field; MA preferred. 
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years successful teaching experience in one of the Fine Arts Disciplines 
  • Previous supervisory experience over people or programs 

Key Results Areas: Create a vision and plan to build an excellent Fine Arts Program at Hill Country Christian School

  • Lead the creation and implementation of new and innovative Fine Arts programs that support student engagement and artistic growth. 
  • Work with administration to promote Fine Arts events and programs, including advertising, communication, and community engagement. 
  • Ensure that all Fine Arts apparel, merchandise, and branding align with school guidelines and visual identity standards.
  • Develop and sustain partnerships with local arts organizations, churches, and community groups to expand opportunities for student involvement and performance. 
  • Increase visibility and support for Fine Arts programs through community outreach, collaborative events, and public performances. 
  • Review and strengthen the strategic vision and continuous improvement plan for each Fine Arts track at each grade level. 

Hire and oversee all Fine Arts Faculty 

  • Collaborate with Fine Arts teachers and instructors on instructional needs, administrative procedures, and program logistics. 
  • Assist with the recruitment, selection, onboarding, and training of Fine Arts personnel, and provide recommendations regarding placement, assignment, retention, and discipline. 
  • Partner with principals in the supervision, scheduling, and evaluation of Fine Arts teachers and instructors. 
  • Identify, analyze, and apply research-based practices that strengthen Fine Arts instruction at all grade levels. 
  • Support teachers in implementing high-quality instructional strategies that promote student achievement and artistic proficiency. 

Oversee all Fine Arts programs and curriculum

  • Direct the development, evaluation, revision, and alignment of K-12 Fine Arts curriculum across Music, Band, Choir, Theatre, Visual Art, Worship Arts, and related programs. 
  • Partner with principals in the supervision, scheduling, and evaluation of Fine Arts teachers and instructors. 
  • Coordinate Fine Arts offerings such as Worship Team, Drum Line, and private lessons in collaboration with Fine Arts staff. 
  • Ensure that all Fine Arts apparel, merchandise, and branding align with school guidelines and visual identity standards. 
  • Work with administration to promote Fine Arts events and programs, including advertising, communication, and community engagement. Keep students, parents, and faculty informed of schedules, expectations, and opportunities for participation across all Fine Arts programs. 
  • Ensure successful participation and representation in TAPPS and other appropriate competitions or festivals. 
  • Be present and provide visible support at Fine Arts events, performances, rehearsals, classes, and competitions as schedule and responsibilities allow. 

Provide Vision and Leadership for Fine Arts Facilities and Equipment:

  • Partner with school leadership to ensure facilities support the vision or growth in Fine Arts 
  • Make recommendations for facilities improvements to maximize Fine Arts functionality 
  • Create inventory of all Fine Arts Equipment and ensure equipment is being maintained and/or replaced routinely 

Physical requirements

  • Occasional physical exertion may be required including standing, bending, reaching or similar activities
  • Some agility and dexterity may be required 
  • Ability to work in an active office setting with frequent student interactions and numerous interruptions.Frequently communicates with students, parents, co-workers, and others. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these 
  • situations, whether in person, via email, or telephone.
  • Moves about inside campus buildings and outside on the grounds.
  • Possible exposure to a variety of childhood and adult diseases and illnesses.
  • Occasional or recurring lifting of objects 5 to 25 pounds
