The Joint Counterintelligence Training Activity (JCITA) is a Department of War organization. JCITA serves as the DoW's central authority for standardized counterintelligence (CI) training, education, and professional development across the military services, combatant commands, and select interagency partners. Its mission is to develop, deliver, and sustain joint CI training programs that prepare military, civilian, and contractor personnel to detect, deter, and defeat foreign intelligence threats targeting U.S. forces, operations, technologies, and national security interests.

JCITA designs and executes advanced, and specialized CI courses covering areas such as counterespionage, insider threat detection, CI collections and investigations, counterintelligence support to operations, offensive and defensive CI methodologies, cyber-enabled threats, and analytic tradecraft. The organization ensures training standardization across the joint force while integrates real-world threat intelligence into curriculum, and maintains alignment with DoW doctrine, policy, and operational priorities.

Position Summary - SECOPS SME

The SECOPS SME is responsible for executing activities that conceal true identities and manage the use of alternative or false information in order to support authorized activities and lawful missions. This position plays a critical role in enabling operational security by ensuring that cover mechanisms are effectively implemented and maintained to protect personnel, operations, and mission objectives.

The SECOPS SME gathers and analyzes information necessary to develop and sustain cover support activities. These efforts may include the creation, coordination, and management of documentation, records, or other materials required to maintain operational cover in support of authorized missions. The Cover Support Officer ensures that cover mechanisms are aligned with mission requirements and comply with applicable policies and procedures.

The SECOPS SME also evaluates available information to determine the effectiveness and responsiveness of cover support operations. This includes assessing whether existing cover arrangements adequately support operational requirements and recommending adjustments or enhancements when necessary to maintain operational integrity.

Required Qualifications:

The role requires frequent coordination and interaction with personnel across the DIA, other U.S. Government (USG) organizations, and external entities to execute cover support activities. The Cover Support Officer must maintain strong communication and coordination skills to ensure activities are conducted efficiently, securely, and in accordance with mission objectives.

The position requires combines operational awareness, analytical capability, and coordination skills to ensure cover support activities effectively enable authorized intelligence operations and safeguard mission success.

Required TS/SCI with ability to obtain CI Poly.

Required Experience:

Must have 10 years demonstrated experience, with at least a portion within the last two years.

Must be a graduate of an accredited CI Special Agent credentialing school and an accredited industry or military master instructor training program.

The likely salary range for this position is $124,093 - $166,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
