Full Time, 40 hours per week, Direct Hire
$50,000-55,000 per year, depending on practice


We are pursuing a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Community Advocate for Advancing Black Homeownership in Dutchess County. In this function, you will be responsible for actively working towards increasing program participation rates of Black household, fostering community connections, and collaborating with non-profit organizations to create opportunities for aspiring Black homeowners. The ideal candidate should possess a strong network within the local community, a deep knowledge of the mortgage process, and familiarity with how non-profit organizations operate.



Community Advocate Qualifications required

»Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Urban Studies, Community Development, Sociology) or equivalent practical practice in preferred.

»Knowledge of Dutchess County’s African American neighborhoods and social services.

»Demonstrated knowledge of the mortgage process and/or first time home buyer programs.

»Excellent networking and interpersonal expertise, with the capability to engage and connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures, particularly the Black community.

»Effective communication expertise, both verbal and written, with the capability to convey complex information in a clear and accessible manner.

»Strong organizational expertise and attention to detail, with the capability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.

»Proficient in operating computers using Windows located programs.



Community Advocate Responsibilities:

»Develop and implement strategies to increase homeownership program participation rates of Black households in Dutchess County.

»Build and maintain strong relationships with community organizations to promote consciousness and access to homeownership opportunities.

»Organize and facilitate homeownership workshops, seminars, and informational sessions to educate and empower potential homeowners.

»Provide guidance and assistance to individuals seeking to navigate the mortgage process, including counseling on credit, down payment assistance, and mortgage programs.

»Act as a liaison between community members and significant agencies, advocating for equitable housing policies and covering any systemic barriers.

»Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and document results and impact of initiatives.
