Responsibilities:

• Inpatient Admissions: Evaluate and admit patients from the Emergency Department (ED) and other facilities, formulating initial diagnosis and treatment plans.
• Clinical Management: Provide direct patient care, including prescribing medications, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and managing acute changes in patient status.
• Emergency Response: Lead or participate in  Rapid Response and  Code Blue teams as the primary overnight responder.
• Medical Supervision: Supervise residents, medical students, and  Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs)during nighttime clinical activities.
• Transitions of Care: Conduct thorough handoffs to daytime teams to ensure continuity and safety in patient care.
• Consultative Services: Provide medical consultations for specialty services (e.g., surgical or psychiatric units) as requested.

 

Work Schedule 

• Schedule: 7-on / 14-off block schedule - 12-hour shifts 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM.

 

Qualifications:

• Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
• Training: Completion of an accredited residency in  Internal Medicine or  Family Medicine .
• Licensure: Valid, unrestricted state medical license and current DEA registration.
• Certification: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
• Certifications: Current  Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

Competencies Skills:

• Clinical Independence: Ability to make critical clinical decisions and manage complex cases with limited immediate specialty support.
• Procedural Skills: Competence in or willingness to learn procedures such as central line placement and intubation is often preferred.
• Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills for coordinating with the ED, daytime hospitalists, and patient families.
• Efficiency: Strong multitasking and prioritization skills to manage high-volume overnight admissions and acute floor issues.
