Duties Description New York State Senator Cordell Cleare is seeking applicants to fill the position of Policy Analyst in her District Office. This individual will have the opportunity to work directly with the Senator on legislation and policy issues that affect New Yorkers.In this dynamic role, you will:

• Provide research and policy analysis for the Senator
• Draft memoranda analyzing policy initiatives and state legislation
• Prepare briefing materials in a wide range of policy areas
• Assist the Senator in preparation for Senate floor debates
• Draft briefing books, and other research material on long-term legislation areas
• Work collaboratively with other members of the team when necessary
• Generate new ideas for potential legislation
• Perform other tasks that may be necessary in support of the Senator

Minimum Qualifications To move forward, candidates must have:

• Legislative experience
• Strong writing, research, and oratory skills
• A bachelor’s degree
• Ability to work flexible hours, including extensive nights and weekends. Preference will be given to candidates with an advanced degrees or equivalent work experience, as well as knowledge and experience in the New York State government.

Additional Comments Salary range is $60,000 to $65,000, commensurate with education and experience.Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and resume to jobs@nysenate.gov.
