Job Description

LaSalle Network is seeking a Human Resources Director to drive key HR functions across a local non-profit organization, based in downtown Chicago.

This role will play a critical part in oversight of talent acquisition, employee relations, talent management, benefits and the day-to-day HR operations, ensuring a positive employee experience and advancing the organization’s overall people strategy.


Human Resources Director  Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational goals and mission
  • Partner with executive leadership to support workforce planning and organizational development
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on employee relations, performance management, and people-related decisions
  • Build and foster a culture rooted in equity, inclusion, and engagement
  • Oversee full-cycle recruitment strategy and execution, in partnership with hiring managers and HR Generalist
  • Ensure effective hiring processes that prioritize quality, efficiency, and diversity
  • Develop employer branding and talent pipeline strategies
  • Design and oversee onboarding programs to ensure a strong start and long-term employee success
  • Lead initiatives to improve employee engagement, retention, and overall experience
  • Support performance management processes, including reviews and goal-setting
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and nonprofit regulations
  • Oversee HR policies, procedures, and documentation, ensuring they are current and consistently applied
  • Manage audits, reporting, and risk mitigation strategies 
  • Manage benefits administration strategy and vendor relationships
  • Streamline and improve HR processes for efficiency and scalability
  • Directly manage, mentor, and develop the HR Generalist
  • Delegate and prioritize work effectively while maintaining visibility into day-to-day HR operations
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing HR function

Human Resources Director Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 7–10+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership or management experience
  • Strong background in talent acquisition, HR operations, and compliance
  • Experience working in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information
Pay: $50-63/hr
Location: Downtown Chicago, Hybrid, 4 days on-site + 1 day remote
Employment type: Contract-To-Hire
