Job Description and Duties

Anticipated Interview Dates: We anticipate holding virtual interviews beginning the week of June 8, 2026. We look forward to meeting with you!

Are you ready to launch your career in investments while contributing to one of the nation’s largest public pension funds? Curious about how equity investing, market research, stewardship, and long-term portfolio strategy come together to support financial success? If so, this is an opportunity worth exploring.

The CalPERS Investment Office is seeking a motivated, analytical, and curious student to join the Global Public Equity team as a Student Assistant. In this role, you’ll gain meaningful, hands-on experience while working alongside experienced professionals in a collaborative and high-performing environment.

As part of the Global Public Equity team, you will support research initiatives related to public markets and corporate stewardship. This may include analyzing portfolio data, assisting with research on environmental, social, and governance topics, reviewing trends such as artificial intelligence adoption and corporate oversight practices, and helping develop metrics that support long-term investment value. You may also contribute to projects focused on identifying risks, opportunities, and emerging themes across equity markets.

This is an excellent opportunity to build practical skills in finance, investments, research, and public service while gaining exposure to institutional asset management on a global scale. You’ll strengthen your analytical abilities, sharpen your professional communication skills, and learn how a complex investment organization evaluates public market opportunities and risks.

We’re looking for students who are detail-oriented, eager to learn, dependable, and excited to contribute fresh ideas. If you thrive in a team setting, enjoy solving problems, and want experience that can help shape your future career, we encourage you to apply.
